A Day in the Life of a Motorcycle Messenger

A Day in the Life of a Motorcycle Messenger

The day beings like any other. You just don't know what it will hold for you today. You wake up in pain from the brutal beating you received the day before from the ruff roads and all the potholes that chipped away at your joints. You are definitely in pain and eager to end it all soon. The only thing that is holding you back is your motorcycle. You pop a couple pain killers and gear up with heavy leather and armor that you hope will keep you safe just in case. There is a battle raging outside your window, it is the angry motorist racing in traffic to go nowhere quickly, but you know as a motorcycle messenger the advantage is all yours. You head to your local spot, where dispatch will contact you at any given moment. Destination unknown. This is what it is like every morning. First call comes in and you are ready to concur the road. Splitting lanes and unleashing the rumble of your exhaust at the angry motorists that just don't want you to pass them. If only they knew what you were up against on a daily basis. Sometimes it feels as if you are a comic superhero racing to save a life, however, it isn't a life you are saving today instead delivering a package.

People will stop you and ask all types of questions. "Isn't it dangerous to ride a motorcycle?", "What kind of bike to you ride?", "Have you ever been down?", "Is your motorcycle helmet heavy?". At times it does feel like you are a walking talking billboard that answers these and other curious questions politely. It is definitely not a glamorous job riding for a living as a motorcycle messenger, yet again you don't do it for the glamour.
